The Chopin Concert Series, presented by the Steinway Young Artist Club and Tom Lee Music during the October Commemorate Month (Chopin died on October 17), aims to recognize the timeless beauty and technical brilliance of Frederic Chopin’s music by providing young pianists with an inspiring platform to showcase their talent.
This concert series is designed to foster a deeper appreciation for Chopin’s contributions to the Romantic era and to encourage the next generation of pianists to engage with his works. The primary purpose of the Chopin Concert Series is to offer a performance opportunity for young pianists in Greater Toronto, aged 5-18, to hone their skills and gain valuable experience in a supportive, professional environment. By presenting this series online, coupled with an in-person awards ceremony and celebration concert, the event allows for wider participation and encourages artistic growth within the local community.
In summary, we aim to:
- Promote Chopin’s Music: To inspire young musicians to explore and perform the iconic works of Frederic Chopin, promoting a deeper understanding and appreciation for Romantic-era piano music.
- Provide Performance Opportunities: To create a platform where young pianists can present their artistry and connect with like-minded musicians.
- Foster a Sense of Achievement: To celebrate the dedication and hard work of the participants by offering certificates, trophies, and media exposure, giving young musicians the recognition they deserve.
- Encourage Artistic Development: To motivate young pianists at all levels to set a goal to develop their craft and repertoire, with an emphasis on discipline, creativity, and passion for music.
- Cultivate a Community of Young Artists: To bring together young pianists and their families, enriching the cultural fabric of the community, and supporting the growth of young musicians in Vancouver and beyond.
